Bishop D'Arcy has informed us that we need to raise a minimum of $150,000.00 to repay our debt and remain open. The good news is that enrollment at the school has actually increased every year for the past three years. Unfortunately, as school enrollment increased, the parish enrollment decreased dramatically. Because of this, the parish can no longer afford to provide the amount of financial support the school needs to operate.
Parishes and schools are supposed to function as a unit. According to diocesan policy, parishes are to provide twenty to forty percent of the school's budget. Sadly, this year, the parish has only been able to provide approximately six percent. Even though the school's budget is one of the most efficient in the diocese and does not rely heavily on the parish for support, without receiving at least twenty-seven percent of our budget from the parish, the school's future is in jeopardy.
The school will close if we cannot raise the money needed by May 1st.
Look into your hearts and consider making a donation to keep the school open. Any donation, large or small, will help us. Your donations will go directly for school support. Your donations are tax deductible and you will receive a statement for your 2009 taxes.
Please help us. The children of the school need you. Many of our children come from single parent homes and fall below the poverty level. Do not let Catholic education become something that only the elite can afford.
