We welcome Father Lawrence as our new Pastor
Effective July 8, 2004 Bishop John D'Arcy has appointed
Rev. Lawrence Teteh, C.S.Sp.,
Pastor of Our Lady of Hungary Parish.
Fr. Lawrence was born on September 13, 1944 in Ahiara Imo State, Nigeria. He has two surviving brothers and five sisters, one of whom is a religious nun. All of Father's siblings live in Nigeria with the exception of Chioma, who lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband and children.
Fr. Lawrence belongs to the world-wide Religious Congregation of Holy Ghost Fathers
and Brothers. (C.S.Sp.). He was ordained to the Catholic Priesthood on August 22, 1971.
Fr. Lawrence has studied in Nigeria, the United States, and many countries in Europe. His academic qualifications include a B.Th, B.A (Philosophy), M.Sc. (Education) and Ph.D (Educational Administration and Planning).
Fr. Lawrence's prior assignments in Nigeria included pastoral ministrations in three different parishes, Rector in a minor Seminary, Vice Principal in a High School and finally, lecturer and Catholic Chaplain for eighteen years in Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, Nigeria. Fr. Lawrence took a leave from the College of Education to come toFort Wayne-South Bend to do pastoral work. Bishop John D'Arcy accepted and posted him to Our Lady of Hungary Parish asAssociate Pastor in December 2001.
Fr. Lawrence was then appointed Administrator in February 2004 following the death of the former Pastor, Fr. Ted Kwak. Fr. Lawrence has been doing this work until his new change of status and assignment as Pastor of Our Lady Of Hungary Parish, South Bend, In, on July 8, 2004. With this appointment, Our Lady of Hungary Parish has completed
its transition from one Pastor to another.
