Working with Email



Hi there fellow Bulldogs!

Gaggle.net is your new email program! You can now email messages to other people who are online.

 

FIRST: Watch this Email Presentation located on the Lab Drive called: email.ppt

To get started, go to this URL:http://www.gaggle.net

Go to: Customer LogIN (top right of page)

User: Your user name and add '_olh' to the end
            (no spaces!) An  example would be:
             12krichard
   would be    12krichard_olh

Pass: bulldogs

   Next page:  Accept
   Next page:
Do the following...

  1. enter a new password, use your same password you use for your student login.
  2. enter it again
  3. leave the email box blank


Now you are in your email interface!

  1. Click MAIL, then INBOX

  2. Open the email from me (double click it)

  3. You are going to send me an email back. Click: Reply (Click 'REPLY" in the email menu above.)
    - You will see in the "TO" line, it is automatically addressed to my email Kristi  Richard <kri.richard@gaggle.net>   since you are replying to an email I sent to you!

  4. Write me a paragraph about what you have learned in this computer lab this year

  5. Format your paragraph FONT (just highlight the text and choose a font from the FONT drop down above - not many choices unfortunately :-(

  6. Use a new foreground color - this is your font color.  Just select all the text, and go to the drop down tool to select a color.  (those drop down tools are above, rollover the little icons to see which ones they are)  The Background Color picker is sort of lame . . . it doesn't fill in the entire page, only the part you can select.  Use it if you want.


  7. Now click "Create a Link" from the icon list.  When the pop up window opens, paste in this URL or website address:  http://www.google.com
    In the description box, type in:  Click here to go to Google!"
    When you click OK, it should show a link with your description that will take me to Google.com!

  8. Now Insert a picture.  Click the "Insert File from Digital Locker" and choose the one file I have in there Logo2.gif.  The bulldog should now be on your email, move it to where you want.

  9. When done, check it over, proof read your email.  If you want to send a copy to yourself, type in your new email address in the next line:  CC   This stands for Carbon Copy and whoever you put in this line will get a copy of the email. When ready,  click SEND in the Email menu bar.

  10. If you sent a copy to yourself, after you send, click on your INBOX  Any new mail that comes into your email box will come in this folder.  You can click the SENT folder to see what you have sent.
